Krk Handi Tricks 2011
International Wakeboard School and Competition for Disabled
Once more the popular Cable Krk held the traditional wakeboard school and competition for the disabled named Krk Handi tricks. The event took place from 5.06 to 11.06.2011 at the bay of Punat on the island Krk.
This happening gathered together 10 competitors from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and France. We’ve seen advanced riders and absolute beginners make this a successful week in sports and entertainment.
Saturday’s competition had six disabled competitors, most of them paraplegic, but there were also four more able bodied competitors who only had the task of riding on the specially adjusted sitting wakeboards.
The course had room for water tricks and tricks over obstacles, across a length of the three hundred meters long course, which was all overviewed by three judges. The results were multiplied by a coefficient that represents the degree of disability.
First place belonged to Philippe Turchet from France, a longtime competitor, but also the chairman of the division for disabled wakeboarding under the International waterski and wakeboard federation. He has supported this event for years, and has been active from the very start. Second place belonged to his compatriot Loris Haeffner.
Zdravko Lakic from Rijeka, with the highest rate of disability, took third place. His performance brought amazement to the large crowd and judges.
